I started programming the remake way back in 2003, though the story probably starts as early as 1977 with the launch of the Star Wars movie. I was too young at the time to go and see it in the cinema, but was surrounded by the all the merchandising as kid. In 1983 the Star Wars arcade machine was released, and it was pretty much the only game I was any good at. Even as a newer and more fancier games like Space Harrier and Outrun came out, I was always to be found in the Star Wars sit down cab.

In 1984, Realtime Games Software released 3D Starstrike on the Sinclair ZX Spectrum. It was the closest thing to the Star Wars arcade machine for a home computer at that time.  You can read more about this game here. I was hooked, and 19 years later decided I would like to see an updated version on the PC. Here are the results :

The objective in the first stage is to survive!  Multiple enemy ships attack you as you head toward the Battlestar.  Shooting them alone is not enough to see you  through to the next level, you will also have to shoot the plasma bolts that they fire at you.  But don't be too trigger happy otherwise your lasers will overheat leaving you defenseless!
